March 20th – 24th | Monrovia, Liberia
The Government of Liberia, in collaboration with partners, is pleased to host the 3rd International Community Health Worker (CHW) Symposium as part of the CHWs Thematic Working Group of Health Systems Global aimed at advancing CHW programs to build resilient and equitable systems that accelerate the expansion of primary health care for universal health coverage. Governments, CHWs, local and global civil society members, donors, multilateral institutions, academia, and the private sector around the globe are invited to contribute and participate in the CHW Symposium.
The 3rd International CHW Symposium will enable countries to share national, regional, and global priorities and progress, focusing on accelerating primary health care with a community health workforce that is supported by the health system and embedded in communities. Participants will also take stock of bold policy reforms and a renewed commitment to develop a professionalized community health workforce capable of driving health outcomes and realizing health for all.
The symposium in Liberia is built on a strong track record of past global CHW symposia held in Uganda and Bangladesh, and harnesses the momentum built by the African Union’s call for 2 million CHWs as well as countries participating in the Institutionalizing Community Health Conferences (2017 and 2021), and is an important milestone towards the Fifth Global Forum on Human Resources for Health.
Please save the date (March 20-24) and disseminate this note widely. An official Save-the-Date from the Minister of Health of Liberia is attached. The symposium comprises 2 pre-conference days (March 20-21) and 3 days (March 22-24) for the main event. Participation in the 3rd CHW Symposium will require registration, based on abstract acceptance and/or a formal invitation for country delegations, institutional leadership, speakers, and others.
